One of the cool things about my new Droid phone is the ability to blog using the “wp on the go” application. In fact, I’m doing it right now…

The layout is pretty basic. I’ve got a very simple WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get) editor, an area for tags and an area for categories. I can also add a picture, which I have. Not sure where in the post it will appear, though.

I like the idea that I can fire off a quick post whenever I want, but it feels more like a failsafe than a surefire solution.

Do you use a mobile blogging solution (besides Posterous)?

  • Hal - I tried the WP app for the iPhone and could never get it working. Mobile blogging is ok in concept and for a post like this it works great. As someone who is kind of wordy though, I probably wouldn't use my phone for too much blogging. I use Posterous for some mobile blogging, but that blog has a different feel (it's called "I Saw It In San Antonio." - more of a photo blog). My main blog, real estate, would just be too hard to work on via a phone.
  • I'm with you on this, Matt. I like to take the time to craft posts, try out different photos, links, etc. There is no phone app I've seen that will let me do this comfortably, and even typing on the phone is just not something I want to do for 30 minutes or more. I love posterous and use it in the same way that you do - it's more of a photojournal for me (although I've definitely seen others use it in a more "traditional" fashion).

Applications like this are supposed to make things easier, and mobile isn't always easier.
